The True Gift of Christmas: Remembering the Joy Found in Jesus
Ahh Christmas, a time when we are in the hustle and bustle of life, shopping for gifts for others and hopeful of a gift we have always wanted.
It’s a joyful time with chili weather and beautiful lights... but also a time that our current society seems to put more emphasis on the gift giving than the actual beauty and gift associated with this time of year. In the Bible, a gift often symbolizes love, grace, and generosity. James 1:17 says, “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights.” This reminds us that God’s greatest gift to humanity is Jesus Christ, whose birth we celebrate at Christmas.
Christmas gifts, then, reflect this divine generosity. Just as God gave His Son to bring hope and salvation, our gifts to one another are a way to express love, gratitude, and joy. They are not about material value but about mirroring the spirit of giving that God demonstrated to us.
As we go about our busy shopping and decorating let us be reminded of the true gift our Heavenly Father gave us…. His Son Jesus Christ. Without the gift of Jesus none of this joy and happiness would make much sense. Enjoy your time this week celebrating with your friends and family and always remember the true Gift we have in Jesus.
