The Life-Changing Power of Engaging with God’s Word
Previously, I mentioned that consistently reading the Bible creates enormous positive benefits—not only for us but also for the people around us.
As I stated in previous writings, if we are looking to grow closer to God and see positive changes in our lives, getting into God’s Word is a proven way to make that happen.
Several people, including myself, can corroborate this claim.
However, many intellects and naysayers need evidence rather than personal experiences—especially coming from some dude writing text messages.
So, I decided to dig in further to provide actual evidence, strengthening the inevitable outcomes of reading and engaging with God’s Word regularly.
Research indicates that engaging with the Bible at least four times a week can lead to significant positive changes in a person’s life.
A study by the Center for Bible Engagement (CBE) found that individuals who read or listen to the Bible four or more times weekly experience the following—check this out, guys:
Reduced Engagement in Harmful Behaviors: The study reported lower odds of participating in activities such as getting drunk (57% reduction), sex outside marriage (68% reduction), pornography use (61% reduction), and gambling (74% reduction).
Increased Spiritual Activities: Those who engage with Scripture at least four times a week are more likely to share their faith with others (228% increase), disciple others (231% increase), and memorize Scripture (407% increase). (Wow, this is big!)
Interestingly, the study noted that engaging with the Bible only one to three times a week showed negligible impact on these areas, highlighting the importance of consistent and frequent interaction with Scripture.
These findings suggest that regular Bible engagement is associated with both a decrease in negative behaviors and an increase in positive spiritual practices—all while growing closer to God and understanding the power of the Jesus Factor in our lives!
There are lots of ways to immerse yourself in God’s Word at least four times a week besides just reading.
Here are a few:
Listen to a biblically based podcast or YouTube channel.
Join a strong, Bible-teaching, life-application church.
Get involved in Bible studies and small groups.
Surround yourself with strong Christian friends.
Bottom line: Immerse yourself in God’s Word at least four times a week and see for yourself what happens!
Love you guys,
