OK, Tough Guy!

At one time or another, most of us have heard people swearing, cursing, or using foul language. Often it's our parents, bosses, friends, and even co-workers. Most people think it makes them sound cool or part of the group. Some believe it makes them sound like a tough guy! It’s incredible how many people engage in this sin daily. What's even more incredible is how young people as young as middle schoolers participate in this sinful behavior regularly. What sinful behavior you ask? I thought it was only a sin if you take Gods name in vain?? God's Word clearly states that it's a sin to take the Lord's name in vain, but there is much more. Many places in the Bible say we should never let any foul or dirty talk come from our mouths, and only words that encourage and build up others up should be spoken. The Old and New Testament both address this topic. They reference things like slander, lies, gossip, criticism, and filthy talk. All are sin! As we make our way in this world each day, we need to be aware that people are watching and listening, especially if have the honor of being a leader or a Dad.Anyone can cuss, swear, and talk badly. That’s easy to do. But a true man of God can refrain and be a Godly example to the people around him. Today, let’s commit to be conscious of how we speak and make a concerted effort to only let encouraging words come out of our mouths. Attempt to always speak with kindness and love.

Now that’s tough! So, go ahead and be a tough guy! God tough!!
