Pray With Your Wife

Scripture

Acts 1:14

“They all joined together constantly in prayer, along with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brothers.”Not only should you, as a husband, pray FOR your wife as we looked at last week. You need to pray WITH your wife. Praying together brings you not only closer to God but closer to each other. It is a very intimate moment between you and your wife and God. Think about it this way, if you were to draw a line from you and your wife to God, the closest point you would be to each other is when you are talking to God together.Apply this verse to praying with your wife. As you pray together, you will sense a new togetherness and oneness that you cannot get anywhere else. Your wife needs to know that you want to talk to God with her, hand in hand. You can even do conversational prayer where each of you pray a sentence or two and take turns. Angie and I love to do this. If you are willing, this could transform your marriage and bring a new level of respect from your wife.

5 HELPS IN PRAYING WITH YOUR WIFE

  1. Set a specific time and place when and where you will pray with your wife. It’s important to try to do this at the same place and same time consistently.
  2.  Develop a prayer list of things you always pray for together, such as your children, grandchildren, family issues, etc.
  3. Ask your wife each day what she would like for you to pray for. Do the same with her.
  4. Don’t be fearful of silence in your praying together. Just being together and holding hands while praying brings a sense of closeness to God and each other.
  5. Don’t be intimidated if praying out loud comes easier for your wife. Angie is a much better pray-er than me . You are not in a prayer competition. You are simply approaching God as one talking with Him.

Wingman, make the commitment today that you will pray with your beloved wife and watch God work!
