Making a God Impression
As we begin a new year, I want to challenge you to be intentional about making a God impression on your world.
Your difference from the world will impact your world for Christ. Everywhere you go every day, God gives you opportunities to demonstrate the love of God in your words, actions, and attitude. I am not suggesting being weird or obnoxious but striving to be like Jesus.A “God impression” is an influence you leave with people that reminds them that there is a God, He is real, and He loves them. Another way of looking at it is, leaving a “heaven scent” wherever you go. Luke said of Peter and John that people knew these men had been in the presence of Jesus Christ. How? The scent of heaven was on them. Each day, you encounter approximately twelve people, depending on your season of life. In a month, that is 360 and 4,380 people each year. If you live to be eighty, that is 350,400 people you have the opportunity to make a God impression upon. You can see the influence one person can potentially possess.Second Corinthians 2:15 says: “For we are to God the pleasing aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing.”When the conquering Roman warriors returned from battle after they had won a great victory, incense would be burned and flowers thrown, creating an aroma. It was the smell of victory. Paul tells us that Christians who live in the will of God are a sweet aroma, a fragrance reminding people that there is a God, He is real, and He is available to them. Each day, get up and pray, “Father, please let me make a God impression on everyone with whom I come in contact today.” Be ready. Observe for God to bring you into contact with those who need to know that God is real and desires a relationship with them.
