The ASK Method of Prayer - Seeking (Part II)
Scripture
Matthew 7:7-11
7 “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened. 9 Or which one of you, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone? 10 Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a serpent? 11 If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him! (ESV)Wingman, this is the second step in the ASK Method of answered prayer. The word “Seek” means to desire to have an experience. You are willing to rearrange your priorities in order to make this a top priority. Seek implies a yearning, a strong desire to go after something. Jesus promises that if you seek, you will find. The word “Find” means to discover. You discover God’s will as you passionately pursue Him.Jeremiah 33:33 ‘Call to Me and I will answer you, and I will tell you great and mighty things, which you do not know.’
Consider 10 Ways to Seek God:
I. Seek God Knowing That God Wants You to Find Him and His AnswerYou have to believe that when you seek God you will find Him.Jeremiah 29:1313 You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.II. Seek God Understanding You Will Meet Resistance from Satan and His DemonsSatan will oppose this kind of praying. He will attempt to distract, oppress, discourage and to everything he can to get you off your knees.Ephesians 6:13, 1813 Therefore, take up the full armor of God, so that you will be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm.18 With all prayer and petition pray at all times in the Spirit, and with this in view, be on the alert with all perseverance and petition for all the saints,III. Seek God by Making Prayer and the Things of God Your Passionate PriorityBefore you talk with anyone else, talk to God first. You have to want God more than you want your own comfort and convenience.IV. Seek God Knowing There is Always a RewardSeeking God means that you believe He will answer, He will reward your pursuing Him. This is laying hold of the promise of God.Hebrews 11:66 And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him.V. Seek God by Acting on What God Has Already Plainly Told You to DoIf God has told you to do something and you haven’t done it, you won’t find success in seeking something else, something new, something more exciting.VI.
