Dear Lord, thank You that we live in a country where each citizen has a right and responsibility to vote. As millions of people have now cast their ballot, and as a president has either been returned to the office or a new president has been elected, I pray for a great peace to visit our country. I pray against any kind of civil unrest or violence. We pray Your hedge of protection around the children, women, and men of our country. May the election be so clear that there is no doubt as to who won.
Lord, so many mean-spirited things have been said on both sides and the divide in our country is a stronghold creating restlessness. I pray that Christian men will lead the way to demonstrate humility, kindness, and love, while still passionately committed to a Biblical worldview. I pray that beginning with our president, there would be words and behavior that demonstrate decency, integrity, and character. I pray that racial division would be eradicated as Christian men lead the way by showing love and kindness, not anger and hate. I pray that those who would do harm to others would be stopped in Jesus’ name and that any plans to bring harm or injury would completely and totally fail.
Help us Lord to not focus on which side won or lost, but on what we as Christians must do from this moment forward to live our faith out loud and to make a difference where we live and go about our daily routine. May we daily pray for our elected leaders that they would be guided by You and Your Word and not by politics. We pray for their salvation and pray that they will protect our religious liberties that were purchased with the blood of our young men and women in service to this country. May memories of them be on our minds as we never take for granted the freedoms we have been given. Help me, Lord Jesus, to focus on You and not obsess over the results of this election. You alone are my Hope and my Joy.
In Jesus Name, Amen.
